Common questions

When do you need professional RF spectrum analysis?

When performance degrades in a specific area or at specific times and Wi-Fi-side evidence does not explain it: high retries and low PHY rates with few clients, a noise floor well above normal, or a band that performs badly while the other band is fine. A spectrum analyzer shows energy that Wi-Fi adapters and controller dashboards cannot classify, such as video senders, wireless cameras, some lighting and motor controllers, microwave leakage, and certain industrial equipment.

What is the difference between troubleshooting and a wireless assessment?

An assessment characterises the whole environment against requirements. Advanced troubleshooting targets a specific reproducible failure: it starts from the symptom, the location, and the client type, and works down to a measured cause. The two overlap, and a troubleshooting engagement sometimes concludes that the environment needs an assessment or redesign.

What do you need from our team before an engagement?

A clear description of the symptom, where and when it occurs, which clients are affected, the platform and controller version, the RF and SSID configuration, and any recent changes. Site access at the affected location during the hours the problem occurs matters more than anything else.

Can this be done remotely?

Configuration review, controller data, and client telemetry can be reviewed remotely, and that often narrows the cause. Spectrum analysis and over-the-air packet capture require an engineer at the affected location, because they measure what the air actually contains at the point of failure.
